Andrew Kozelka was born in California into a military family, and grew up in Ohio, New Mexico, Hawaii, and Virginia. He holds a B.A. in European History from Northwestern University, and an M.A. in English and Creative Writing from Hollins University.

 

He has worked as a waiter, copy store clerk, and factory hand around the United States, and taught English in Japan, the Czech Republic, and Mexico.
